The platform should maintain procedures for responding to valid law-enforcement requests and legal process, consistent with applicable law and user privacy protections. These procedures should address:
- Preservation of relevant account information and evidence when legally required or appropriately requested.
- Responses to valid subpoenas, court orders, warrants, and other legally binding requests.
- Designated channels for law-enforcement authorities to submit requests.
- Emergency requests involving imminent threats of death or serious physical injury.
- Procedures for handling requests involving CSAM, child exploitation, trafficking, sexual violence, and other serious crimes.
- Appropriate escalation to trained safety, legal, or trust-and-safety personnel.
- Documentation and auditing of law-enforcement requests and disclosures.
- Disclosure of user information only as permitted or required by applicable law.
- Protection against unauthorized disclosure of information about an investigation where prohibited by law.
Enforcement
Violations may result in content removal, account restriction, suspension, or permanent termination, depending on the severity and circumstances. The platform may also preserve or disclose information, report suspected criminal activity, or cooperate with appropriate authorities when required or permitted by applicable law.
